December already?!

Ok so I have become one of those people that has a blog and doesn't go on it for ages and yes, they annoy me too however, one has been terribly busy with college, work and generally rubbish (Assassin's Creed II however, was NOT rubbish)

And now Siege of Mirkwood is out for The Lord of The Rings Online! That means even more of my time being spent not doing comicy related things!

However, in the new year, hopefully I will have the chance to get the creative ball rolling again so until then have a very Merry Christmas, enjoy Doctor Who (we'll all miss you David!) and see you again when I'm an adult! Yaytimes for all!

Call me a sellout but...

I've decided that I'm going to sell some of my photographs on canvas. I'm obviously not going to go into the details, finances and logistics of it but it does seem like a good idea.

Most of my shots will be things around the house, mainly innanimate objects that will look good in a cut up effect and in mainly one colour

Here are my first ones I was toying around with today when I should have been doing law, "Gold"

All photographs below are copyright to myself, Paul Brierley, and all rights are reserved

Just another Wednesday....

Last Saturday I met the lovely Leah Moore and John Reppion in Travelling Man Manchester who signed me my copy of their one off Doctor Who story The Whispering Gallery and also a copy of Albion! We had a nice chat and I'm now really looking forward to Alice in Wonderland in Octoberish!

Started on a new Hobbitish Childrens' story yesterday and it's looking good! I just need more time to sit down and work on things really so I'm thinking of booking some time off work which is always good!

Nothing much else worth mentioning really but I'll see if I can post something fun for you next time!

Rock On!

Looking at my keys and thinking of a blog title

So I gave April a miss and went right on to May! Get in!

Not much happening at the mo'. Working on a Middle-Earth 2 (or maybe 3, depends on how much crap I can spin) book novel --Oh hang on I want some cornflakes-- anyway yes, Lord of the Rings follow up style stuff, I'll give you a sample soon (maybe!)

Not really got the time for the Photoy stuff what with exams and the like but I'm looking to do some more bands over summer however in the meantime I'm sticking with photographing Cats.

Speaking of LoTR, I've been playing LoTRO alot more recently and I'm now at level 40! Woo! But the fact that alot of the characters aren't in the books they're very believable and most of the time it does seem that they could have been original...expect the bat-women, they suck. So I'm thinking of doing a few very different short stories about some of these cool new characters so stay tuned!

Also branching out into the music world more recently, playing around with my lovely mandolin more and making pretty noises so that could be interesting!

Don't go away!

Red wine

Love the stuff

Anyway, flashed some cash at Travelling Man yesterday and it was totally worth it.

I've finally read Batman: R.I.P and I'd normally give you my opinion on it but I honestly can't tell if it's good or bad. And that probably means it's bad.

As much as many people will be annoyed to hear this, I've really gone off Grant Morrison recently (Final Crisis had a crap ending) but Matt Wagner? That's a different kettle of phish.

I love Sandman (all of them in the DCU, expect Daniel, not read any of that Sandman but I'll get round to it because I like his mum and dad and nearly cried when they left JSA! Anyway) and I recently bought the most recent Sandman Mystery Theatre as I have them all so far so, I bought Volume 7 and I'm now (literally) up to the second part of the second story and it's spot on as usual.

Wagner and Steven T. Seagle (no relation I'm sure) write a puzzling and well...mysterious storyline which is presented amazingly by Guy Stevens by and the covers by Gavin Wilson make me want to take some SMT style photos of my own...hmm...

Anyway I hope ot have up a badly drawn, badly concieved idea for a 6th Doctor story tomorrow so stay tuned kids! But knowing me, It will be up in 6 months!

See you in April!

Wednesday 7 January 2009

Ahh...right

Well things haven't been going so great.

However,

I have had the chance to read many graphic novels over the holidays and of all the ones I've read I recommend that you buy Animal Man volumes 1-3, purely because of the fact that the legendary Grant Morrison makes Animal Man aware of the fact that he is a comic book character and also Sandman Mystery Theatre: Sleep of Reason. I've been a huge fan of the original Mystery Theatre series and this one off about photographer Keiran Marshall going to Afgahnistan during the war and finding Wesley Dodds' old gas mask and gun is amazingly interesting to read and also contain a unique story of Wes and his partner Dian in the later days of their lives.

Now I promised that I would have more to show but I have yet to invest in a scanner! Hopefully I shall be able to use the ones at my college (Bury College for those who are interested) tomorrow as I have some free time so, stay tuned!

Rock On
